Via Forno Wood Fired Pizza & Vinoteca, located in Scarsdale at 2 Garth Rd., announced on its website that it is now closed after more than six years in business.

According to the owners, the pizzeria is "working on some new menu items and reinventing the space" and will hold a grand reopening on Sunday, Dec. 1.

In its announcement, the owners also thanked former customers for their support of Via Forno over the years.

"We always served the highest quality food with integrity and provided authentic dishes at affordable prices," they added, not giving a specific reason for the decision to change the restaurant.

The pizzeria had specialized in wood-fired pies such as the via forno with arugula, prosciutto di parma, and shaved parmigiano; the Americana with spicy pepperoni, green peppers, and hot honey; and the pesto with house-made basil pesto, roasted red peppers, and fresh tomato.

Other menu items included eggplant parm, Atlantic salmon, and gnocchi.

The news of the temporary closure sparked reactions from commenters on the pizzeria's Instagram page, including pleas to keep certain menu items.

"Please do not get rid of the gluten free pizzas! 😍😍😍" wrote one commenter.

"Love the place great pizza looking forward to it," wrote another.
